Boys on the Right Track

Attention:

November will be almost 12 years since we started Boys on the Right Track. Although this decision has been both saddening and reflective, sometimes we have to recognize that certain endeavors must come to an end and realize they served well for a specific time. We announced in mid-July that our Executive Director and Founder, Juliet Meade has decided to pursue new endeavors and has stepped down. Since February 2024, she has been holding down her new role at Buffalo State University as well as managing all aspects of the organization.

Stepping down means the organization will pause its programs this fall and resume in the spring with a fresh perspective. We will rebrand, reorganize, and restructure to be more gender-inclusive, as boys-only programs have struggled to secure funding.

The mission to teach boys social-emotional skills remains at the core of our work, and we will be searching for new board members and staff to carry this vision forward. We are very proud of the contributions we have made, the lives touched, and the change fostered in the community.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We are forever grateful for the community we’ve built together and a million thanks to all the supporters and community who helped us continue to serve our boys.

We will post updates after the new year to plan for spring. Please reach out via our contact form if you have further questions.

Boys on the Right Track is a fun, non-competitive running wellness program for young men ages 8-13. Through providing an environment that nurtures growth, fosters open communication, promotes inclusivity, and prioritizes both mental and physical health, we are empowering our boys to navigate the challenges they face with resilience so that they may thrive in our rapidly evolving world.

Our program is about much more than running and was designed to help prevent aggression and violence as well as promote healthy choices in the young men who participate. Through small groups led by trained coaches, boys learn collaboration, healthy choices, and goal setting. They practice communication and healthy self expression while building their confidence and developing leadership skills along with fostering relationships that can last a lifetime. BOTRT has been proudly serving the Western New York community since 2013, and we are rapidly expanding our programs to other areas of the country! Start a new site today!

Why enroll your boys in a running program?

In this day and age, kids are more “plugged in” than ever, which can result in reduced physical activity, increased distractibility, irritability and aggression, sleep disturbances, and other harmful effects. Help your boys kick that screen-time habit by enrolling them in a fun after school program that they will want to unplug for. Running will get their endorphins flowing, providing them with a natural high to replace the state of hyper-arousal that they may seek from online gaming or social media.

In Boys on the Right Track they will engage in fun games and physical exercise while developing social-emotional competence as a solid foundation for their well-being.What are you waiting for? Sign up today – your boys will surely thank you!
