Spring Program Cancellation

We're sad to share that we've canceled the Boys on the Right Track Spring Program and 5K run due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19 for program participants, coaches, and volunteers, and also the closure of all schools in New York through May 15.

We have traditionally mirrored what the local school districts do as well as rely on information from the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and State departments.

As a local nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching healthy habits, growth in social and emotional skills, including communication, collaboration, and resilience, we rely on program fees to support our lean operations and to ensure all boys in our community can participate.

This pandemic will have a significant impact on our organization’s finances as we have already incurred costs in preparation for a spring season including volunteer background checks, insurance, materials, coach training and more. We are in the process of putting  emergency plans in place to ensure that we will be able to serve the boys in the future.

As someone who shares our passion for empowering young boys, we are hopeful that you may consider donating  some or  all of your registration fees to the organization in lieu of a refund. We will gratefully provide a tax letter for your records should you choose one of those options. The CARES Act that just passed due to the COVID-19 pandemic allows families to receive incentives for charitable giving. This includes cash contributions to charities in 2020 of up to $300 without having to itemize deductions and lifts the cap on annual contributions for people to itemize deductions from 60% adjusted gross income to 100%.

We are hopeful that you see the value of this program and will consider an option which includes donating some or all of your registration fee to the organization in lieu of a refund.

We understand this is a challenging time for many of us and we are grateful for any level of support you are able to provide, as the future of our program could be impacted. Through your donation, you can help continue to spread the joy of running and provide the opportunity to learn coping skills to a youth in WNY!

We're providing several options for spring registration refunds, and would greatly appreciate your support of our program during this challenging time.

To best manage the refund process efficiently, all refunds must be requested by 5 p.m. on May 15; if you do not request a refund by this time, we will gratefully consider your full registration fee a donation. Requested refunds will be processed 12 weeks after May 15.

We're grateful for any level of support, as the future of our program could be impacted.

We want to thank all our coaches and volunteers for their service and volunteerism. We wouldn't be able to do this with them ...they are the heart of our organization and we wanted to let them know how much we appreciate them.

Here is one thing we are certain of.....after experiencing this pandemic, boys will need this program more than ever!!! Tell your boys to keep moving and stay positive!!

Thank you for your continued understanding, patience, and support. Be sure to stay connected with us on Facebook for tips on how to keep our boys on the right track throughout these challenging times.
