The Benefits of Coaching

The personal benefits of coaching are wide-ranging. Not only are you able to enjoy making a difference in the lives of several young boys in our community, it’s a fun way to make great memories and perhaps even bond with your own children. Acting as a positive role model, it gives you the opportunity to pay it forward. To take pride in knowing you are teaching lessons that these boys can use their whole lives through.

Coaching has been shown to improve one’s personal confidence level and organizational skills. It has the ability to increase effectiveness in communication and boost self-reliance. It also looks fantastic on a resume.

As if positively impacting the lives of others and personal growth in yourselves isn't enough - we offer a monetary benefit to coaching as well. In addition to covering your CPR certification costs, we give LEAD coaches a 75% discount on your son's registration in the program. Discount applies for up to 2 children. For ASSISTANT coaches, we offer a 50% discount for up to 2 children as well. This applies only If you do not qualify for the $0 out-of-pocket cost through your insurance company. Please call your provider to see if you qualify.

 Your time, dedication and service is appreciated by many, including our staff, parents and especially the boys themselves.

So Now That You're Interested...

Here is a checklist of what we need from you:

2. Pass Background Check
Click HERE to access the screening application through Youth Protect Sports, a background check company that specifically works with coaches and volunteers. The background check has a refundable $12.95 fee, reimbursed once we receive your clean background check results. If you receive a refund for your background check, that means you have passed and we welcome you to the family of Boys on the Right Track! 

3. CPR/First Aid Certification
If you have current certification, please email a copy of your up-to-date certificate to Juliet at julietmeade@boysontherighttrack.com or send by mail to: Boys on the Right Track, Inc. 8656 Delameter Rd. Angola, NY 14006.

If you are not currently certified, no worries! We pay to get you covered. Contact us for more information.

4. Find an Assistant (can be high school helper but must be at least 16 years old)     
Assistants MUST go through background check but do not require CPR certification. Please provide assistant’s name and contact information to Juliet in order to keep our files up-to-date. 

5. Gain Verbal Agreement   
You must gain verbal agreement from the building principal or the supervisor at your desired program site. We will then follow up to arrange insurance and answer any questions they may have.

6. Attend a Coach Training Session 
Lead coaches must attend 1 of our mandatory coach training sessions (Coaches in WNY only). Anyone that lives more than an hour away from Buffalo, NY - we provide training off site or come to you. Assistants are welcome but not required to attend. Spring 2019 training sessions are 3/20, 3/21, 3/22, 3/27, 3/28, or 3/29 - 6:30-8:30 pm at our office 8656 Delameter Rd. Angola, NY 14006. 

7. Recruit Participants 
We need your help to spread the word through social media, parent/teacher groups, asking school physical education teachers to mention the program during classes etc., or any other way you deem fit. Please check with us if you have any questions regarding how to represent our program accordingly. 

8. Program Dates and Times 
Let us know the days and times you will be holding the program by emailing julietmeade@boysontherighttrack.com 

9. Submit Paperwork    
Fill out any necessary paperwork for your site. Some schools do not require anything while others require paperwork to be submitted to the district a month or two before start date. Buffalo, NY sites only: Spring program starts the week of April 8th (Spring break may modify this - please check) and runs through the week of June 10th coming to an end after our 5k on Sunday, June 9th.
Paperwork should be completed mid-February and flyers distributed by March 9th (we will provide the flyers).
